Khaled Hosseini: And the Mountains Echoed

KhaledHossein-Elena-SeibertKhaled Hosseini is the author of The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns and his latest novel, And the Mountains Echoed. He is also a medical doctor and a UN ambassador. His novels have become international best-sellers and The Kite Runner was also made into a successful film. His work illustrates the experiences of the Afghan community, both here and abroad, with a new lens, rather than a wartorn one we only hear about in the news.

While he was on tour for And the Mountains Echoed, he stopped in Portland and met up with me at our KBOO AndTheMountainsEchoed-cvrstudios. We chatted about his experience of moving the the US as a child, his first trip back to Afghanistan after nearly 30 years, and his work as a UN goodwill envoy with The Khaled Hosseini Foundation.

This interview was featured on KBOO‘s literary program, Between the Covers.
