Junot Díaz: This is How You Lose Her
After making waves (such as winning the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction) for his second novel, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Junot Díaz hit the road again. While Oscar Wao explored the plight of a Dominican American teenage boy and his quest to lose his virginity, his latest collection of stories, This is How You Lose Her, followed Junior, the supporting character from Oscar Wao, and deconstructs a cheater.
Junot Díaz is a Dominican American writer and professor of Creative Writing at MIT. His writing encompasses perspectives from heavily flawed characters, enveloping immigrant experiences and gender dynamics.
While he was on tour in Portland, we met for an interview at our KBOO studios, recently aired on the literary program, Between the Covers. We recorded this interview back in September of 2011. This piece features music from Novalima and Juan Luis Guerra.
